Cats complete season sweep of Grizz

Another game against Logan equaled another blowout victory for the Bobcats Thursday night at Crimson Gym. For the first time this season, the two teams met on the Grizzlies home turf. The change in venue did little to effect the outcome, however, as Sky View completed the season sweep of the series with a 75-53 victory.

Bobcats fight hard but fall in overtime against Mustangs

HYRUM—Senior Kyler Carlsen played the game of his life Friday night against the valley rival Mountain Crest Mustangs, scoring 31 points and grabbing four rebounds. Carlsen hit a quick turn-around 3-point buzzer beater to send the game into overtime, but Carlsen’s efforts weren’t quite enough, as the Sky View Bobcats fell to the Mustangs, 56-51 in final overtime.

HYRUM—Thursday night the Sky View Bobcat girls team took on cross town rivals, the Mountain Crest Mustangs. The game was extremely competitive the entire time, with both sides playing hard, and keeping it close. While the Mustangs never held the lead during the game, it was constantly a close game, and even a tied one. All the excitement of the game culminated in the fourth quarter, when the Mustangs made a comeback that made the last few seconds of the game extremely exciting. The lady Bobcats came out triumphant with a score of 52 to 50.

Lady Bobcats destroy the Box Elder Bees

Thursday night the Sky View Bobcats girls team faced off against the Box Elder Bees. While the game was close through the first quarter, the Bobcats pulled ahead in the second quarter. After a half time spent signing balls for charity, the Bobcats came out and extended their lead even more through the second half, ending the game with the amazing score of 70 to 31 for the Bobcats win.

Tuesday night the Sky View bobcats hosted cross town rivals Logan Grizzlies for a boys basketball game. The game was extremely heated, with each team getting nearly 20 fouls throughout all four quarters. The game was extremely close, with the closest point margin being 6 at the end of the first quarter; however, in the end, the Bobcats pulled off a last second shot to win the game.

Exciting Basketball—Mustangs visit to Sky View didn’t disappoint

SMITHFIELD—Inter-county rivals Sky View and Mtn. Crest met on the hardwood Wednesday night to face off for the second time this season. Their first meeting was three weeks ago, and the Mustangs won comfortably, 55-40. Wednesday night wasn’t as comfortable for Mtn. Crest, where they had a three-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter thanks to the hot hand of Bobcat Tanner Crockett.

Tough game is heartbreaker for Lady Bobcats

“About what we expected,” said Coach Paul Hansen. “It was a physical contest and a good basketball game. One of the better high school girls games you’ll see.” An accurate assessment for certain. The Sky View Bobcats played the tough Mountain Crest Mustangs in a game that could have ended either way with the lead changing hands all evening. In the end the Mustangs came out on top 43-49.

Bobcats win in physical battle

SMITHFIELD—With the first quarter in the books, the Sky View Bobcats trailed the Ogden Tigers, 8-9. Led offensively by Kyler Carlsen and Nick Eskelson, the Sky View Bobcats took the lead in the second quarter, and extended that lead in the second half to defeat the Tigers at home Friday night, 50-37.

It was another blowout for the Lady Bobcats. Thursday night they more than doubled the Ogden Tigers score to end the game 65-29. Amy Andrus almost beat the Tiger’s score by herself with 25 points. Of course, she had a lot of support from her teammates. Dianne Washington turned it double-digits at 11 points and Aubrey Boehme and Nicole Hansen adding 9 each.

Bobcat boys beat Bees in tough game

The Bobcats got a close win against the Box Elder Bees. Excellent defense kept the score low while the lead changed eight times during the game. The fourth quarter was a nail biter until several fouls by the Bees pushed the score out of range at 53-48 for Sky View.

Photographs tell the story of the blowout Tuesday night. The Lady Bobcats started with a 23 to 1 run against the Box Elder Bees and never stopped. In the end, the score was 92 to 57. Amy Andrus (#51) led the game with 33 points followed by Jenessa Crafts (#12) with 12 points and Aubry Boehme (#42) and Nicole Hansen (#14) with 10 points each. Hansen gave a remarkable 12 assists during the game.

Starting off on the right foot

SMITHFIELD—It was a complete effort Tuesday night in Smithfield as the varsity, junior varsity and sophomore Lady Bobcats chalked up wins against the visiting Skyline Eagles. The varsity squad, behind a game-high 17 points from point guard Nicole Hansen, edged out the bigger Skyline team, 58-49.
