After a morning spent in the sun watching the parade trickle past, Smithfield City celebrated Health Days on the Forrester Acre Sports Complex Saturday with inflatable games, rock walls, booths, food and singing. Booths and games were up from 11:00 to 4:00 Saturday, in which time residents valley-wide gathered to celebrate health and wellness.

An event that attracts more than just Smithfield City residents, the Health Days “Day in the Park” had activities for both the young and the old. Youngsters could ride the Health Days Train or battle it out in inflatable jousting. They could climb a large rock wall, or collect goodies from a candy launching cannon. They could enter the booth area to rope a metallic cow or fish for prizes. There were many opportunities for children to get involved.

Lovell Studios provided microphones and a keyboard for local singers to entertain Health Days visitors, and everything from oldies to Disney songs to the latest radio hits could be heard echoing throughout the park.

In the arena west of the booths, guests could enjoy a horse show with speed events at 11:00. Everything from biking to climbing to horseback riding was provided to promote healthy living.

After a day of entertainment and games, families and friends could settle down for Navajo tacos, cotton candy, pretzels, smoothies, and everything in between. Local businesses gathered to pitch their wares to visitors, and there were prize giveaways at several booths.

With a little bit of everything for everyone, the 2011 Smithfield Health Days came to a happy and successful close.
