Get ready for the party of the year — Health Days! Saturday is the big day with events starting early in the morning with the fire department’s pancake breakfast and ending late in the evening with a fireworks show! The day is packed with activities of every kind. Use the schedule below to make your final preparations for tomorrow then come and have fun!

The weather forecast is partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60’s. So it’s going to be a beautiful day.

Pancake Breakfast & Flag Ceremony — 6:30 to 9:30 AM

Come and join our local firefighters from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. for the Smithfield Health Days Pancake Breakfast. This is a fundraising event for the fire department. It will be held at the Smithfield Fire Station, 325 W. 100 N. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

During the breakfast, all are welcome to tour the station and view the firefighting apparatus. Members of the department will race each other and the clock to put on their firefighting protective clothing and equipment. This is a great way to start the day, feed the family breakfast, and support the Smithfield Fire Department.

At 8 a.m. a Flag Ceremony will take place under the direction of Capt. Bobby Pitcher. This is always the highlight of the morning and helps us all take a moment to remember those who are giving their lives to preserve our freedoms.

Fun Run — 7:30 AM

The annual Health Days Fun Run starts at Mack Park in Smithfield. The 10K run begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K and Mayor’s Mile immediately after.

Parade — 10 AM

Cheer alongside the streets of Smithfield or choose to be in the annual Health Days Parade! Fun and excitement await as community members, students, royalty, local businesses, scouting groups, community teams and dignitaries pass by riding on floats, playing music, tossing candy and waving to the crowd!

The parade begins at 10 a.m.

Parade Route: Starts at Sky View High School, heads west on 400 South, then along 100 East to 100 North.

Free Transportation to and from Forrester Acres — 11 AM to 3:45 PM

Pick up and drop off locations:

  • Summit School turn around located at Main and West Center Street
  • Forrester Acres Recreation Area located at 400 West and West Center Street

As a public service, busing to and from Forrester Acres Recreation Area will be provided from 11:00 am-3:45 pm. Expected wait time is approximately 0-15 minutes. Take advantage of this FREE service and avoid long walking distances.

Forrester Acres Festivities — 11 AM to 4 PM

Rides, food and entertainment are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for displays of jewelry, tupperware, candles, food storage, businesses and all sorts of crafts & carnival rides. Come experience Smithfield at its best and share the day with family and friends.

Lovell Studios from Smithfield will provide this year’s entertainment. Lilium will also perform. Songs will be selected from the past to the present with a variety of genre from country to rock. Come relax and enjoy some great music!

Horse Show — Noon to 3 PM

If you love horses, you’ll love our Smithfield Health Days Horse Show! Come down to the horse arena located at 800 West Center and watch it come alive with beautiful horses and people, young and old, participating in riding activities for different age groups.

Entry fees are $3 a class. Registration at noon, show begins at 12:30. No pre-registration required.

Classes available:

  • Lead Line, Walk and Trot, Horsemanship,
  • Barrels and Pole Bending

Age groups:

  • 7 and under
  • 8-10 year olds
  • 11-12 year olds
  • 13-14 year olds
  • 15-17 year olds
  • 18 and over!!

What a great way to celebrate Good Health and Great Horses!!

Chess Tournament — Noon to 4 PM

Get those brains working and join us for some fun! Games begin at noon and last until 4 p.m. Teens and adults are welcome. We will be at Forrester Acres unless it rains, then jump on the free bus and head to the Youth Center. There will also be a life-size chessboard for people to play on so COME HAVE FUN!

Ping Pong Drop — 1 PM

One of our favorite Smithfield citizens, Karl Straub, has volunteered to add to the excitement with a ping-pong drop over the north and south fields. Children will be divided into age groups for safety. The 4-6 year olds will find ping- pong balls in between the two fields.

Youth Council Games — 1 to 4 PM

Young people looking for something new at Health Days? Get ready to have some fun with Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball, Face Painting, Bubble Gum Blowing Contest & Arm Wrestling!

Mountain Bike Challenge — 2 PM

The Mountain Bike Challenge starts at 2 p.m. at Mack Park. The challenge will start up Smithfield Canyon and then head up to view the mountain and the streams of the beautiful Birch Canyon. No registration fee is required and there will be a drawing for prizes at the end of the ride. This is a technical ride for the experienced mountain biker, but NOT A RACE.

Bike helmets are required.

Family Buckaroo Rodeo — 3 PM

Stick around after the Horse Show for the hilarious entertainment of the Family Buckaroo Rodeo:

  • Stick-horse barrel racing for ages 6 and under
  • Two mutton bustin’ competitions for children 45 pounds or lighter and children 46-60 pounds.
  • Goat roping for ages 11 and under and 12-14
  • Calf scramble for ages 8-11 and 12-14
  • Wild cow milking is open to teams of four and all participants must be at least 18 years
  • Two greased pig chases – one for girls 17 and under and another for ladies 18 and older

Smithfield Blue Sox Double Header — 5 to 10 PM

It wouldn’t be Smithfield Health Days without a Blue Sox baseball game! In the absence of “Mr. Baseball” this year, they’ll need our support even more! Come enjoy the game and concessions at the Richard V. Hansen Baseball Park. First pitch is at 5 p.m.

Fireworks — 10 PM

End the days’ festivities with a BANG! The fireworks display at Forrester Acres will begin at 10 p.m. Bring your families and blankets & enjoy the show!
