Bobcats begin Lacrosse with trip to Vegas

The Sky View boys lacrosse team started their preseason play this last weekend by going to Las Vegas for the Best of the West tournament. Sky View Bobcats end season at quarter finals

The Sky View High School Bobcats Boys Basketball Team hit the end of their 4A State Playoff journey, as they lost to the Timpview T-Birds, 59-48 at the Dee Events Center in Odgen on Thursday evening. The Bobcats kept things close through two quarters, but the T-Birds exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 17-6. Bobcats break through Titans to quarter finals

After two straight years of losing in the first game to the would-be 4A State Champion, the Sky View Boys Basketball Team broke through, defeating the heavily favored Olympus Titans who were ranked No. 7 in the state by Deseret News, 46-41 in Smithfield Tuesday night. It was a team effort for the Bobcats, as not a single player reached double-digit point totals. The Bobcat defense was key, as they stopped a Titans team that was averaging about 60 points each outing heading into tonight’s contest. (Continued…)

Lady Bobcats end season in second round of playoffs

The Sky View Lady Bobcats found the end of their tournament run Thursday afternoon, losing to the Snow Canyon Warriors, 59-52. The heavily favored Bobcats found themselves down, 20-8 after one quarter of action and never found their way back on top. Senior guard Nicole Hansen hit three 3-pointers in the first half and Lady Bobcats crawled back within eight points, and the Lady Bobcats trailed, 31-23 at halftime. (Continued…)

Last regular game a let down for Bobcats

The Sky View Bobcats lost somewhat of a meaningless game Wednesday against the Box Elder Bees, 54-47. The Bobcats (16-5, 11-4) didn’t have much to play for, with the exception of pride, and struggled all night to find an offensive rhythm. Free-throws were the difference make of the game, as Box Elder (12-9, 8-7) hit 22-of-29 and Sky View only managed 9-of-14 from the charity stripe. (Continued…)

Lady Bobcats advance in playoffs after crushing the Highland Rams

Another game against Logan equaled another blowout victory for the Bobcats Thursday night at Crimson Gym. For the first time this season, the two teams met on the Grizzlies home turf. HYRUM—Senior Kyler Carlsen played the game of his life Friday night against the valley rival Mountain Crest Mustangs, scoring 31 points and grabbing four rebounds. Carlsen hit a quick turn-around 3-point buzzer beater to send the game into overtime, but Carlsen’s efforts weren’t quite enough, as the Sky View Bobcats fell to the Mustangs, 56-51 in final overtime. HYRUM—Thursday night the Sky View Bobcat girls team took on cross town rivals, the Mountain Crest Mustangs. The game was extremely competitive the entire time, with both sides playing hard, and keeping it close. While the Mustangs never held the lead during the game, it was constantly a close game, and even a tied one. All the excitement of the game culminated in the fourth quarter, when the Mustangs made a comeback that made the last few seconds of the game extremely exciting. Sky View girls started off strong with the win in the first event, the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:53:28 — Mickensi Didericksen, Shaelynn Bodrero, Cassie Wiser, and Laura Mortenson. Logan took 2nd and East 3rd. The SV boys were strong in their 200 medley relay too. Zakk Rhodes, Daniel Cox, Nate Gregory, and Brett Mortenson took 4th place. Nineteen Sky View wrestlers are headed to Highland High School in Salt Lake City Friday and Saturday to compete in the north division tournament, just one week after the team took third in the regional tournament held at Logan High School. Having a regional and sectional tournament is a new format that gives the team an opportunity to qualify more athletes to compete in the state championship tournament that will be held next week in Orem at Utah Valley University (UVU) beginning Wednesday, February 10th and running through Friday February 12th. Thursday night the Sky View Bobcats girls team faced off against the Box Elder Bees. While the game was close through the first quarter, the Bobcats pulled ahead in the second quarter. After a half time spent signing balls for charity, the Bobcats came out and extended their lead even more through the second half, ending the game with the amazing score of 70 to 31 for the Bobcats win. Sky View down one in double elimination at playoffs

Wednesday night the Sky View hockey team lost a hard hitting battle to the Skyline Eagles 6-3 in the first round of the double elimination portion of the playoffs. Jake Hill, Braden Limb and Tanner Gray all had goals for Sky View. David Nelson and Jared Valdez had assists. Goalie Tanton Jeppson had 45 saves. Sky View next game will be next Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 9:30 p.m. in Bountiful. (Continued…)
