Election filings start Friday, Three school boards seats available

School board, county, state and national election filings start this Friday. For the Smithfield region we have three school board, one cache county council, all cache county officials, one state legislature and one national congressional seat up for election. Sign-ups begin this Friday, March 12 and continue for only one week until Friday, March 19 by 5 p.m. at the county clerk’s office. [UPDATE: Added US Senate seat.] (Continued…)

SMITHFIELD—Citizens gathered Wednesday evening to hear the platforms and opinions of candidates running for mayor and two city council seats. Sky View's Encore performance starts Thursday

Encore is the elite performing group at Sky View. Each year there is a new show full of old and new favorites. There is dancing, singing, live music and acting. This year’s show will be held in the Sky View auditorium from Thursday, March 11 through Saturday, March 13 and another show on Monday, March 15. Fundraiser this Saturday at A&W for Dietrich Crosby

There is a fundraiser this Saturday, March 13 at the Smithfield A&W to raise money for Dietrich Crosby. Dietrich Crosby is a 10-year-old little boy diagnosed with a very rare terminal illness called Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation (early onset called Classic PKAN). NBIA is a rare, inherited, neurological movement disorder characterized by the progressive degeneration ofthe nervous system (neurodegenerative disorder). The common feature among all individuals with NBIA is abnormal iron accumulation in the brain. (Continued…)
