The Night of Giving was a sellout crowd this year with 214 people attending. We had to add a silent auction this year because of all the generous donations. There were 25 items up for silent auction plus all the trees and gifts donated for the live auction. The parking lot was full Saturday morning, cars backed down every road. Volunteers scattered candy and eggs across the grass methodically as families exited their vehicles and gathered in the center of Mack Park. (Continued…)
The Smithfield Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Night of Giving on November 13, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person or $45 a couple. The ticket includes a prime rib dinner catered by Culinary Concepts and participation in the tree auction. (Continued…)
No amount of snow could stop children in pursuit of easter eggs. The sun shown on new snow at Mack Park Saturday morning as children and parents waited patiently for the easter egg hunt to begin. And then, all at once, they were off. What took members of the Greater Smithfield Chamber of Commerce all morning to set up was over in just a few minutes. Tickets are still available for the Night of Giving. The 3rd annual benefit starts with a prime rib dinner by Culinary Concepts followed by a Christmas tree auction of trees decorated by local businesses. The Greater Smithfield Chamber of Commerce reports that last year $12,000 were raised to help buy toys, food and some clothing for families in need. This year there will also be a raffle for a beautiful tree by Sugar and Spice. The benefit will be held this Saturday at 6 p.m. in the commons area at Sky View High School.
